Avascular Necrosis Treatment Management in Ahmedabad
17th January 2023
Avascular necrosis is a degenerative bone condition characterized by the destruction of bone cells brought on by the obstruction of the subchondral blood supply. Long bones' epiphyses in weight-bearing joints are usually impacted. The most frequent sites of AVN are the femoral head, knee, talus, and humeral head. In general, the hip is the area that is used the most frequently, which frequently causes pain in the hip and, in the worst-case scenarios, causes fractures of the hip. To manage this condition, there are various Hip Pain Treatments available.
Most commonly it affects the hip region but can also affect the knee, shoulders, talus and even the smaller bones of our wrist such as the scaphoid and lunate.
The early diagnosis of AVN through physical examination is not significant. A detailed history should cover any recent trauma, steroid usage, alcoholism, tobacco use, change in gait, poor posture, insidious onset pain, and reduced range of motion. X-rays are also ineffective in the early stages. MRI is highly effective in early detection – the literature has suggested that AVN can sometimes present itself as bursitis of the trochanter region which is the inflammation of the bursae around the trochanter of the hip or tendinitis.
This method treats the symptoms of the condition. A patient with inflammation is prescribed with NSAIDS or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and so on. Other medications usually given are anticoagulants, vasodilators, etc. Research is still ongoing with bisphosphonates to prevent or reduce osteoclastic activity.
In this method, there are different surgical procedures which are done according to the severity and region affected due to this condition. Some of the most common procedures done are Core Decompression usually done in the stage 1 or stage 2 of the condition. Osteotomy is the procedure through which the affected region or the necrotic part of the affected bone is cut to increase or decrease the alignment of the bone to reduce the load on the bone. In severe cases, total hip replacement is done.
Through this method, the progression of this condition can be reduced. It usually follows symptomatic treatment focusing on reducing pain, maintaining range of motion through strengthening of the surrounding muscles, passive and active range of motion exercises.
Our medical professionals are constantly researching the best strategies to properly manage this disease. The use of Ossgrow, sometimes known as Bone Cell Therapy, in the treatment of AVN is one such new development. It is a technique that uses healthy cells to repair an afflicted organ or tissue.
We understand AVN is a condition where the blood flow to the bone is interrupted and there is a shortage of cells equipped with bone healing also known as osteoblasts. Hence, Regrow focuses on the regeneration of bone cells and works by supplying cells from the patient’s healthy tissue to make bone-forming cells for each patient. This is done by extracting the healthy tissue from the bone marrow, culturing it in our advanced lab and finally implanting the cultured bone cells into the body of the people suffering due to AVN.
At Regrow Biosciences, we have taken steps to ensure that each and every one who is suffering from AVN and is suitable for our Bone Cell Therapy – OSSGROW; are able to access the same.
