Cartilage Cell Therapy Management in Ahmedabad
25th January 2023
A strong, flexible tissue and cartilage can be found all over the body. As a safety mechanism and surface covering for joints, it enables bones to slide over one another. It may suffer damage because of steady wear and tear or a sudden injury, such one sustained during sports. A few weeks may be enough for minor cartilage injuries to heal on their own, but surgery may eventually be necessary for more serious cartilage damage. The knee is the most affected site for cartilage damage which is usually followed by shoulder joint, ankle, elbow and the wrist.
1) Joint discomfort or pain which can worsen when you exert weight on the joint and persist even when you're at rest such as knee pain, shoulder pain etc.
2) Inflammation at the affected region
3) Stiff joints
4) A grinding or clicking sound
5) The joint catching, giving way, or locking
The diagnosis of this condition is a little complex because the symptoms of a sprain or ligament injury can be identical, it can be difficult to distinguish between cartilage loss in the knee and either condition. Modern non-invasive testing, however, makes the task much simpler than it always was.
A magnetic field and radio waves are used by a device called an MRI to produce precise images of the body. Even though it is helpful, an MRI sometimes misses cartilage injury.
An arthroscope is introduced into a joint to inspect and treat it during arthroscopy. Finding out how much cartilage damage can be done with this surgery.
1) Medications such as steroid injections, NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs)
2) Exercises through physical therapy
However, if the condition is severe, your Orthopaedician will recommend Cartilage Surgery for the Cartilage Damage Treatment which includes;
1) Debridement - to stop the injured cartilage from rubbing and hurting other bodily parts, it is smoothed, and any loose edges are removed
2) Marrow stimulation – tiny holes are drilled under the damaged cartilage to trigger production of new cartilage, but it is less supple and may require surgery later
3) Mosaicplasty - the injured area receives healthy, unharmed cartilage that is transferred from another place. When there is extensive damage, such as with arthritis, this technique is not appropriate
4) Autologous chondrocyte implantation – also known as Cartilage Cell Therapy, is the most effective treatment in recent times where a tiny bit of cartilage is taken out and brought to the lab. To increase the number of cartilage cells, it is grown here. The new cartilage cells are put into the knee later, where they develop into healthy tissue.
We understand that the damage of the cartilage is a condition where the injury to the cartilage pain and stiffness in the joints restricts normal range of motion and movement leading to reduction in the physical activity and eventually decrease the quality of life. Hence, regrow focuses on the regeneration of cartilage tissue and works by supplying cells from the patient’s healthy tissue. This is done by extracting the healthy tissue from the cartilage, culturing it and finally implanting the cultured tissue at the affected site in the body of the people suffering because of it.
At Regrow Biosciences, we have a strong ideology that each and everyone who suffers from cartilage damage, should be offered a natural solution to help treat the same and enable a normal way of life, specially for those who are active sports enthusiasts or live a very active lifestyle. Hence, we have tied-up with multiple clinicians Pan-India, including Ahmedabad, Gujarat, to bring advanced cell therapy treatment options for those who have cartilage damage.
